Gazette 1919
Feb. 8 - Lieut. Burt Chapman returned home Tuesday fresh from the
battlefields of France and a royal welcome in the shape of a musical
entertainment and play party was planned for him at the home of his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. A.B. Chapman, for Wednesday night, but the weather wouldn't allow it
then, so it was put off until Thursday night, when the whole settlement, Will
Wilson and Boots Glossup included, gathered there and had a fine
time. (Beulah Correspondent to the Advance)
Feb. 4 - Mr. Clyde Doss of Dermott visited his mother, Mrs. Emma
Doss, from Saturday till Monday, and then made a beeline for St. Louis, Mo., to
seek his fortune. (Beulah Correspondent to the Advance.)
Feb. 14 - Boots Glossup attended church Sunday night and on the
road home he bogged in a mud hole, and his rubber boots failed to protect him,
and he came near about having to go home barefooted. (Beulah Correspondent to
the Advance) (Gaz. Editor's comment: We are glad the boy saved his namesakes!)
