Wilmar - Fire was discovered in the South block and before it was extinguished the stores of E.A. Morris, Miller & Daniel, J.A. Berryman and the office of Dr. R.L. Barr were destroyed. Barr's loss was total. His business lost a number of very fine instruments and a fine X-ray machine.
Jul. 23, 1903:
Monticello - Claude Latham shot and killed Carrol Reynolds on Long Prairie. The shooting was done with a pistol and four shots were fired. Latham surrendered to the sheriff, claiming that he shot Reynolds in self-defense.
