Sep. 17, 1901:

Charley Young, who killed W.R. Tubbs at a dance near Midway one night in the Summer of 1900, was tried for the offense last week and given one year in the penitentiary.

Wilmar Items: Mr. W.H. McCain and daughter, Miss Clemmie of Idaville, Tenn., father and sister of Rev. I.W. McCain, of this place attended the McCain-Conerly marriage at Beauvoir College last Wednesday. Miss McCain will remain at Beauvoir as a student.

Capt. W.H. Isom of Tillar attended the McCain-Conerly nuptials at this place.

Rev. J.L. Young and a large number of other friends of the contracting parties attended the McCain-Conerly marriage.

Prof. L. Gillis, one of the teachers in Beauvior for next year, arrived from Mississippi Saturday evening. Every department, except those of elocution and music is now filled.

Mr. Joe Shanks leaves today for Cotton Gin, Texas.
